Privacy
The short version
Your assistant runs on your own computer. Your conversations, notes, documents and lists are kept there, not on our servers. We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across apps.
What stays on your computer
Conversations, what your assistant remembers, your notebook (notes, documents and photos you add), lists, pages and mini-apps it makes (and what they save), what your family shares in groups, and the accounts you connect. Whoever runs the computer can see and delete this in Weaver.
What goes to an AI company
To answer you, your assistant sends what you ask, and what it looks at to answer (for example a calendar event, a note, a document's text or an email), to the AI company chosen on your computer: Anthropic, Google or OpenAI. That company uses it to answer you, under its own privacy policy. This app tells you which company before anything is sent, and asks first.
Your computer also reads email from accounts you connect, and your notebook notes, in the background to find bills, appointments and other facts and to write your notebook's pages. It does that with an AI on the computer when it has one; otherwise with Anthropic, only if Anthropic is the company your computer uses and you agreed to it.
If your computer uses an AI that runs only on the computer, nothing is sent to an AI company.
Mini-apps
Mini-apps your assistant makes for you run their logic and keep their data on your computer. They read only what you allowed when you said yes to them (for example your notebook, or certain websites), and they ask before changing anything. A website a mini-app reads sees a request from your computer, nothing else about you.
Web search
If whoever runs your computer turns on web search, your assistant can look things up on the web with Tavily. Only the search words go to Tavily, not your conversations or files, and your assistant is told to keep names and other private details out of them.
What's on this phone
The address of your assistant and this phone's key (in the iPhone Keychain), your settings, and the conversation you're in. When your assistant asks to use Reminders, Calendar, Maps or other apps on this phone, it asks you first each time unless you choose otherwise, and iOS asks for permission too.
Disconnect This Phone (in Settings) removes all of this from the phone, including routines and reminders it set, and takes the phone's key off your computer.
Accounts you connect
If you connect a Google account, your computer reads your email and calendar from Google regularly to keep your notebook up to date (bills, appointments, what's due), and your assistant uses it to answer you. It doesn't send email or change your calendar through that connection. Disconnect it any time in Settings; your computer then forgets what it read.
Away from home
When you use your assistant away from home, the connection may pass through our relay. It is encrypted from this phone to your computer: the relay can't read it, and keeps only what it needs to pass it along (like when a connection was made).
What we collect
This app sends us nothing: no analytics, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers. If you email us, we receive what you choose to send.
Reports
If you report something your assistant said or someone shared, the report goes to whoever runs your assistant's computer, not to us. You can also choose to email it to us.
Children
Families can add children to their assistant. Whoever runs the computer decides who uses it and can remove anyone and what they shared. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and this app sends us nothing.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be here and on our website, with its date.
This website
askweaver.com uses Google Analytics to count visits, sign-ups and downloads, so we can see what works. It sets cookies and sends Google your browser's details and the pages you visit, never what you type into the sign-up form or a setup code. Google signals and ad personalisation are off. The Weaver app itself doesn't use Google Analytics.
Signing up to test
If you sign up on this website, we keep your name, email, which Mac you have, whether you have an iPhone, and anything you tell us you'd like help with. We use them only to run the test: to send you news about it and ask how it's going. They are kept with Cloudflare, which hosts this website. To have them deleted, write to support@askweaver.com.
